Zack Snyder’s Batman vs Superman is well on its way in terms of production, having started filming in February, and it looks like this movie will be setting the scene for a Justice League introduction. Having already cast actors for Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, they almost have half the team already. Now they’ve just announced a fourth JL related addition, in the form of Victor Stone, aka, Cyborg – who will be played by actor Ray Fisher.
Cyborg was never an original Justice League member, though he has massive ties with the group, and when time was re-written during the events of Flashpoint, he ended up becoming a founder. His addition to the movie can only mean one thing; the Justice League is getting ready to form. It will be interesting to see who else will join the team.
The Flash has the potential to show up with the recent announcement of his own TV show, and if he has a cameo, then will Green Arrow? Arrow is a very popular show at the moment, well into its second season, and even though the hero was never an original member, he has been affiliated with the team in the past. Both characters already have actors cast to play them, so it could be relatively easy to insert them into the upcoming film.
Other possibilities would be Green Lantern. The hero’s stand-alone movie wasn’t the most popular of films, so I can’t imagine Ryan Reynolds will be asked to reprise the role, but character remakes happen all the time. A new actor to play him could be just what Hal Jordan needs. Aquaman is also a possibility. Generally the butt of all jokes when it comes to Justice League parodies, could he be the movies comic relief? It would be interesting to see which actor would play the ruler of Atlantis.
For those that don’t know, the Justice League is DCs equivalent to the Avengers. It’s comprised of a team of powerful superheroes who join forces to take on earth’s deadliest villains, and occasionally some of its saviours – you know, the heroes who haven’t been acting quite like themselves. Can you imagine going up against a rogue Superman? Back up would definitely be needed (unless you’re Batman, Batman is the best).
I’ve never read much about the Justice League in the past, always favouring Marvels alternatives. I found JL far too powerful for their own good. A team combining both Superman AND Batman sounds practically unstoppable. Then throwing Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter in there as well – total chaos. I am however intrigued to see how this pans out, the most exciting prospect being which nemesis will they be going up against. The Justice Leagues toughest villains include Darkseid, The Crime Syndicate of America, and Starro. I’m hoping its an impressive announcement.
