So, after much speculation, numerous rumours, and secret meetings, the cast for Star Wars Episode VII has been confirmed. This is the very first image of the actors selected so far. Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill will all be returning to reprise their previous roles of Han Solo, Leia, and Luke Skywalker respectively, from the original George Lucas trilogy. As will Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker – C3PO, Chewbacca, and R2D2.
JJ Abrams, director of the new trilogy, has also announced that they will be joined by an array of other actors, including John Boyega, Domhnall Gleeson, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Max Von Sydow, and Andy Serkis. Most of these actors are relatively unknown to me, however I recognise Gleeson as Bill Weasley from the Harrry Potter series, Serkis as Gollum from Lord of the Rings, Isaac from the movie Sucker Punch, and Boyega as the front man of Attack the Block.
The parts each will play in the upcoming movie have not been confirmed, but it has been previously announced that this film will be set 30 years into the future from previous Star Wars movies, so I still believe that a couple of the actors mentioned above may be Han Solo/Leia offspring. Filming will begin in a couple of weeks, and the movie is expected to have a December 2015 release date.
