Game Producers, Square Enix, have just announced that they are offering a 14 day free trial period for anybody who hasn’t yet played Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The MMORPG was released this time last year and is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Windows PCs.
A Realm Reborn is essentially a sequel, set 5 years after the events that occurred in the failed first game. It has been rather more successful than the original, but the fact that they’re offering free trials suggests that they may not be doing as well as they’d hoped. I haven’t played the game myself, but I’m generally up for giving anything a try, especially if it’s free. Plus, I just got a brand spanking new Alienware laptop that is in need of some MMORPG goodness.
The game, which can be temporarily downloaded from their site, will not be a full version – in other words, there will be restrictions, but you can binge play until you reach level 20. Because you only get it for 14 days, I’d make sure you download it to coincide with a relatively empty calendar. There doesn’t seem to be an expiration date, so I presume you can start playing whenever you like.
