Tom Hardy Drops out of Suicide Squad

Due to scheduling conflicts with The Revenant, Hardy has had to abandon his role of Rick Flag in DC’s upcoming Suicide Squad movie.

I’m personally very disappointed, but I know a lot of people who will be happy with the news of Hardy’s departure, arguing that the actor has already played a DC character in the form of villain Bane, and that he should not be allowed to play another villain in that universe..

According to The Wrap, director David Ayler has replaced the actor with Jake Gyllenhaal, so not all is lost. Gyllenhaal has worked with Ayler in the past, starring in his film End of Watch, so it’s proven that they work well together. He will join actors Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, and Cara Delevigne who make up the rest of the squad.

Tom Hardy will still appear in Mad Max: Fury Road which is out at cinemas on 15th May 2015.
